I have always wanted to go to Japan. It has been my dream to visit this country but well I always never decide to go until recently this year. This is my first time going to Japan so going with a tour package make it easier to navigate. I am sure I would be going back to Japan in the near future. I am very sure about that! March 31st. I was pretty excited cause finally the day to Japan is here! We booked a cab to changi airport Terminal 3. Everything was all right and everyone was in a happy mood. My mum was telling me that she somehow got the gut feeling that something was not gonna be all right. I told her not to think too much and just focus on enjoying herself in Japan, After all, we gonna spent her birthday in Japan, It happens that my mum's birthday fall on April 1st. I never thought much that her gut feeling gonna be so true! It was time for boarding so we went in. Everything on flight was good till dinner was served. They asked us whether we wanted Japanese food or Western food. The Western food did not look v fantastic and Japanese food look kinda appetizing so my mum chose Japanese food. Who would have thought that the bento contained oyster sauce in their marinating of meat. My mum even finished dishes and commenting to me that it is so nice. She only realized something was not right when rashes started appearing on her neck and she felt that her throat was so tight that she could not breathe, I panic caused I knew instantly that it is an allergy symptom. Luckily, my mum has her medication on board and try to pop the pills to ease the attack. I never felt so panicky seeing how bad she felt there. My dad later realized that actually the Japanese bento actually CONTAIN OYSTER SAUCE! I thought most Japanese bento don't contain oyster sauce so this in flight food by SQ was my first! Luckily things turn out all right BUT after taking the medication, my mum went all drowsy and weak and I felt bad that the start of the Japan trip is starting like this! Not a good sign either. When we reached Japan, we informed the local tour guide that followed us there and also the Japan's side representative. We took a coach and was brought to our hotel. It was almost 9pm (Japan's time) when we reached our hotel. Everyone was so tired and my mum was extremely tired with medication. Then Jap side gave us cup noodles and snacks since we have been on the plane for around 5 hrs plus and probably felt hungry. Again, the cup noodle contained eggs. Luckily, we checked the content if not my mum gonna have another allergy reaction. Day 2 April 1st - my mum's birthday (Osaka) She felt better after a night of rest and we proceed with itinerary Nara Todaiji - There is deer at this temple! I was more afraid of bumping into the deers cause they are everywhere! Visited Abeno Harukasu, the tallest skyscraper in Japan. Spotted Neoprint station and took neoprint there. Neoprint is such a past in Singapore now. Hardly find them now. It was also at Osaka that there was an earthquake. We did not know there was a earthquake till our Jap tour guide Reiko told us about it. She has received the tsunami alert. The moment we have wifi, messages was pouring in cause it was reported in local Singapore's new that there was an earthquake in Osaka. The lift to Harukasu was suspended when there was a earthquake. Luckily we were safe from the earthquake BUT as a precaution wise, our tour guide taught us what to do if we actually encounter earthquake in Japan. Visited Shinsaibashi and Dotombori Street. Shopping, try their ramen and slacking at Starbucks' to use their wifi. Ramen's ordering Order Ramen using vending machine slot in your money and pick your choice. Print your receipt and give it to the chef and they will cook the ramen for you. It is a common sigh to see vending machine in Japan. Found Daiso there and everything is priced at 108 Yen which is pretty cheap so I have a great time shopping there before finally slacking at Starbucks to rest. Had dinner with the rest of the tour group member before heading back to hotel! Tired by fun! The tour group celebrated my mum's birthday by singing a birthday song for her and giving her a present. Osaka- Kyoto Visited plenty of places but too many to list down. Most memorable was to wear the kimono in Kyoto! Wearing the kimono is not an easy thing, It is pretty hard. Just thinking of the steps to wear it is enough to make me wonder how they wear it everyday? I chose a pink flower motif so I was decked in very sweet pink with nice hairstyle style by the stylist. Visited Fushimi Inari Shrine and experience walking thru the Tunnel of Torii Gates! Was lucky to capture the tunnel of Torii Gates empty with no one blocking my view! Kiyomizu Temple - the temple where we don our kimono and walk in the temple taking picture! Look nice but tedious wearing the kimono cause it is pretty hard to walk. Higashiyama - went there too to walk and still in kimono Shirakawago Village - took many pictures there Takayama Jinya - many tatami mat... Many of our tour group went for Onsen (Hot Spring). My mum and me did not go for most of the Onsen when we were there. Takayama - Matsumoto- Yatsugatake Visted the mso brewery and try miso ice cream and miso biscuit (bought back a few packet to give to friends) Visted Matsumoto Castle and Nakamachi Street where we bought the super sweet strawberry and cherry tomato. Going to Tokyo already Premium outlet and visiting Mount Fuji. It is so cold up there at Mount Fuji that my nose went "running" the moment I was at Mount Fuji I bought quite a lot of sanrio items at the premium outlet since it is cheaper there. Bought my limited edition baby G there too! The colour is so striking that it is so suitable for zumba! Went to shinjuku for dinner and then watch some art performance Visit Asakusa Temple in Tokyo and shopping at Ginza too. Made friend with one family! The trip was fun if not for mum's allergy problem then at the start! Labels: japan trip 2016 tagboard.
